Trans-Tasman Tournament
To prepare our students for the up and coming Trans-Tasman Tournament in
September the following squad training sessions can be attended:
Sensei Rocky’s Dojo – Eight Mile Plains Mon 5:30 – 6:30pm /
Wed 7:30 – 8:50pm
Sensei David’s Dojo – Sinnamon Park (Kickarate Studio) Sat 12:00
– 2:00pm
Please note competitors need to attend at least one training session
each week.
•'Jo'
training next month.
All
members will need to bring a Jo to our monthly 'all in session' on
August 25. Your Jo should be made from hardwood and be 127cm long or 50
inches.

Goodwill Tournament Added - October 17

Training with World Chief Instructor - Shihan Paul Mitchell
All went well
and a lot was learned over the weekend during the 6 hours of Kata,
Bunkai and tournament training with Hanshi Paul Mitchell. Our kids
undertook an introduction to bullying workshop which involved role-play,
discussions and impact work using elbows and knees.
 
• Sensei Rocky Meets with Kohji Doi Sensei on the
Gold Coast. 8/3/10.
Sensei Rocky left the dojo for the night to meet
with Japanese Instructor Sensei Kohji Doi who was visiting Queensland
with students from Japan. Unfortunately he was unable to get to our dojo
due to a full schedule... maybe next time.

• School Holidays
Classes continue throughout the school holidays for
Adults and Children alike. Don't forget the last Wednesday of every
month is 'all in' training, students from all of our dojo's come
together to train with 5th Dan QLD Chief Instructor Sensei Rocky at our
Runcorn Dojo.
• 30th Anniversary - September 2009
Some lucky Samurai QLD students and
instructors were fortunate enough to be able to participate in Samurai
Karate's 30th anniversary celebrations. Those who did make the trip down
to Melbourne were treated to four days of training, tournaments,
gradings and awards dinners. Although sore and exhausted by the end,
those that went were excited about sharing the knowledge with those back
in Brisbane. Special congratulations to fellow Samurai Thomas
Olsen (from Victoria)who was selected to represent Australia at the
World Karate Federation -
'Junior and Cadet Championships' in Morocco.
• Goodwill Tournament 2009.
Samurai Karate was victorious this year in securing
the 'goodwill shield' from our friends in competition 'Australian
fitness and martial arts'. Children from 5 years and up competed against
one another in Kata and Kumite; concluding with the team
event which Samurai Queensland won! Congratulations to all who competed
and a big thanks to those who volunteered to ref/ run/ set-up the day.
